Join Canterbury Lions Club

We are always looking for new members to join our club............ So just what is expected of a member?

We are just ordinary people who give of their time freely to help others.

A member must be willing to give up some of their spare time to help out at fund raising events. The funds raised at these events go mainly to local causes, individuals and groups.

As Lions Clubs are part of Lions International, some money goes towards International disasters such as floods or earthquakes. We are also committed to support water wells and eye camps.

Members pay a small membership fee - paid in two instalments in December and June which covers the running costs of the Club and our dues to Lions District and Lions International. For less than 1 a week you can be part of an International organisation which is the largest voluntary service organisation in the world.

Members are not allowed to gain financially from the Lions and are not allowed to debate politics or religion.

We have both male and female members and female membership is encouraged at our club.

We meet twice a month on Tuesday evenings.

The first meeting is held on the 1st Tuesday which is a business meeting where we submit reports, consider requests for help or assistance and discuss the forthcoming activities of the Club. The second meeting is on the 3rd Tuesday which is a supper and committee meeting.

All our meetings are jovial with a certain amount of friendly banter between members which is kept in check by our President!

If you would like more information about the club or the work of Lions please get in touch either through the Contact Us link or by calling on 0845 833 7364.
